Help for Batterers
Is there anywhere in the Elko area that offers help for batterers if they so choose to get help? I have seen a pamphlet for TBA (Think Before Acting) but it states in the pamphlet that you need to bring a court order. I was going to call them to see if they offer voluntary services without a court order but was wondering if you knew of any programs or groups or counseling that a batterer can get.

I researched your reqeust and have an anwer to your question. There are several counselors in Elko who provide batterers treatment for individuals. One that CADV has worked with for several years is

Frank Hall / 753-6768

There are also two programs which have been state certified as treatment providers. Both told me that they would accept participants who were not court ordered. Times and fees need to be discussed with them. Often your personal health insurance will help cover the cost.

Family Violence Intervention Program
772 D Street, #202
Elko
753-8666
Facilitator: Wayne Hansen

The other program is the one you mention
Think Before Acting
ACCS-Elko
738-4225
Facilitator: Vic Hutchings
They are currently in transition to a new location so I do not know where the meetings are being held at this time.

I hope this helps. Good luck
